WHO WE ARE
The Naenae Youth Charitable Trust was set up to govern the Naenae Boxing Academy, which opened its doors in 2006, the fulfilment of the lifelong dream of Billy Graham. Billy, a former New Zealand and Australasian light welterweight boxing champion was inspired by his own experiences growing up in Naenae as a troubled youth. Having been significantly impacted from a young age by the mentorship of Dick Dunn, New Zealand’s legendary boxing coach, Billy founded the Academy with the strong desire to give back to his local community and make a difference in the lives of its youth.
Our Vision - is for young people to reach adulthood with the motivation, values, skills and knowledge to reach both their potential and ability to make contributions to their families, peers and wider community.
Our Mission - we will provide a fitness-based service to young people and their families, which challenges and expands a young person's horizons, perceptions, values, abilities and actions through:
- Fitness training
- Social Interaction
- Role Modelling

The aim of The Naenae Boxing Academy is to turn young boys into healthy young men.
- to work on their attitude
- to control their mouth
- to motivate them to be the best they can be at school
- to respect their family and people around them
- to understand their body and how to make it strong and healthy
- to understand nutrition and the value of good food
We partner with Outward Bound, Rotary, Vodafone NZ Foundation, NZ Police, the Royal NZ Police College and the Hutt City Council to broaden the horizons of our members and teach them important skills to add to those they learn within the boxing gym.
